teaching – one another

We would argue that according to the Bible  if you don’t have enough time to be known, to live deeply with one another – then you just might be too busy to be a follower of Jesus.

In the new testament, there are over 50 “one another” passages, and during a Sunday service you might be able to practice two or three of them. As a service gets larger, you can probably do fewer and fewer.

A large group setting can be a bit dangerous. You can come, sit, sing, listen, and go home and think, “i’ve been to church,” even if you haven’t practiced any “one anothers.” We need to be calling each other to deep bonds of fellowship and unity.

We may gather in a large group on Sunday night, but we must  remind ourselves that it is simply a church service. It can be beautiful and powerful, but it is not the whole of church. Church as it’s described in the scriptures is actually about caring for one another, serving one another, and speaking truth to one another in love.

We cannot get the two confused.
